A New World Record
"We made it to the top!" Takumi exclaimed ecstatically. He checked his watch and added: "We went from sea level to the top of Mount Everest in exactly one hour and fifteen minutes."
"A new world record," his friend Giancarlo cried out. "We did it! We did it!"
"We should admit that the sea level having risen drastically in the last few decades gave us an advantage over our predecessors," Takumi countered, pointing at their boat, moored to an outcrop of rock in the water below, easily within visual range.
"Thatís true, but it doesnít change the fact that we went from sea level to the top of Mount Everest in a record time," Giancarlo pointed out. "We did establish a new world record."
"Absolutely right," Takumi admitted. "We can rightly be proud of our achievement. Now shouldnít we start our descent?"
"Youíre right, letís go."
The two men started their descent to the place where they had moored their boat, from where they would go back to their floating village, eager to tell their story of their new world record.
