Regret And Old Friends
David and Allie grew up together and were close friends. After high school it became something more. Two years into college David told Allie that he was done. She was just holding him back. Allie, timid as she was, wrote him a letter asking why. He never wrote her back. Now he stopped and gazed at the portrait above her. Allie had traveled the world….or so he had heard. Her image was lined with mementos of her life and the necklace she always wore. He tucked a sealed envelope into the flowers atop her casket.
Gently touching her face, David cried. "I'm sorry it took so long Allie." His cane clicked as he left the hall.
