The Power Of Influence

Time seemed to freeze as the bus halted at one of its poorly lit stops, and the details of a woman came into focus. She leaned against the wall for support. Her eyelids drooped, and she let out a loud drawn-out yawn. This woman clearly hadn't gotten a good night's sleep in a long time and that powerful yawn hit me like a ton of bricks. As I looked at this stranger, I could feel my body fighting to stay awake. All I wanted to do was curl up under a warm blanket, close my eyes, and float off into a peaceful dream. Suddenly her head jerked up, and her now narrowed eyes met mine. The corners of her mouth twitched upward and a smile crept on her face.

"That's right my dear, go to sleeeeep," the woman hissed as she stepped onto the bus.

The lights blurred and everything went black.
