The Last Laugh

His howl of anguish echoes in his dead wife's ears. He had whispered his love and devotion and begged her to stay. But she had slipped away in front of his very eyes. A suggestion of a smile still lingered on her peaceful face. She was free!

A kaleidoscope of memories whirled about in his head. Tears gushed down his face as he relived their life together. Then reality intruded.

"How dare you leave me after fifty years of marriage!" he roared. "And who will wash my socks?"

From somewhere a giggle erupts. "Not me."
