Just for Show
"Yes, I agree that I have made mistakes, misjudgements, too. But Iím on the right track now, and ready to take the heat for it." Shady Pete said to the copper tightly bound to a solid wood chair.
With that, he levelled his pistol and pulled the trigger. The bullet grazed the officerís ear, deafening him and starting a slow trickle of blood down the side of his face.
"What the hell are you doing Pete?" The cop yelled, his cry echoing in the deserted warehouse.
"Got to make it look real, Sam," Pete said.
"Ainít nothing real about a grazed ear when everyone knows you are the best marksman in the criminal world?"
"But it is a police issue revolver. They ainít known for their accuracy are they?"
"Okay, letís get this over with. I donít like the feeling being tied up, even if it is just for show."
"You turned the sound off on the video camera didnít you?"
"I bloody well hope so, donít fancy getting shot in the ear again."
Pete walked over to the camera sitting on the tripod and checked the LCD screen.
"Bugger," Pete said. "Soundís on. Give us a minute to erase the tape and start it again."
Sam shook his head.
"Wonít do, Iíve already got blood running down my face."
Pete stood rubbing his chin, deep in thought. He cocked the pistol and shot the cop between the eyes.
"Iíve changed my mind, Sam," he said. "It hurts my head all this going straight. Easier to just do the hit and stay a crim."
