He'd been dumped for the third time that week. In one way or another, he was sure it had been about his smell. In particular, he had not found the time to wash his socks.

And so, the great irony: always wooing women because of his odor problem, no time to wash socks because of his need to woo.

He sat down to write a poem about his problem and realized that if he could write one less poem, he could finally wash his socks.
