Frederick "Fishman" Feldman

Frederick "Fishman" Feldman seldom left his house after his daughter, Suzanne died. The town rallied together to get him back in the water; one morning after two years, eight months, and five days he finally stuck a toe in, then a foot, and finished by submerging his face. Every day now, Frederick goes and shimmies like a dolphin in Laughing Creek Lake. On weekends, summers and holidays the school kids join him and splash in noisy circles around Fred. The ladies of Laytonville County Store and Saloon bring him balanced meals with apples in the winter and oranges in summer. Sometimes it takes a village to do what Suzanne used to do.
