W... Call Letters

To relax before bedtime they turned on the tabletop radio and doused the lights. Already tuned to a soft music station they slipped into the loveseat their eyes adjusting to the dark. The comfort of the station dial's amber light the only source of illumination. They inhaled the aroma of vacuum tubes heating before the radio snapped out of its customary audio lag. And then ... the room was pleasantly filled with warm sounds via glass-insulated circuitry and the perfect song selection - a mellow trombone rendition of Chaplin's "Smile". Holding each other they eased into the evening melting into each other's arms.
