Misinterpretation

Billions were petrified when three moons appeared in Earth's sky.

Government, scientists, clergy, shamans had no answers.

Beliefs shaken, many committed suicide. Anarchy eliminated the rest.

Then, two Martians landed in Manhattan.

"Where's everybody?" asked Ggg.

"Probably on vacation," said Rrr.

"I'm disappointed. I wanted to see what Earth women look like. Let's find beer and head back."

"Look," Rrr said, "the two humungous spheres we're towing look like moons."

"Wow! From here, they're beautiful. Who'd guess they're just garbage containers? When our tow ship is repaired, we'll get them outta here. Meanwhile, I'll bet Earthonians love seeing three moons."
