Thoughts At A Red Light

Driving home at 3am, I am caught at a red light and as I wait I wonder how long it will take them to find me. I wonder if my ears will ever stop echoing the bang of the shot and the gasp she made from impact, if she really was telling the truth after all and it was her brother, if I would ever be able to sleep again. I think of running the red light, both roads stretch out without a soul in sight, and feel a stir of guilt, and wonder how I can kill my girlfriend but not run a red light on a deserted street at three in the morning.
