Time Of The Trench Coats

I'm six foot. Not small, actually, but now there are more slender men, eight feet tall, who will only look at their peers, or upwards. And they make no indulgent attempt to bend their proud, broad, straight backs. Yesterday I found myself with seven of them in a room that had a lot of doors. Trench coats in beige, dove blue and charcoal. And hats. The initial raising of the left foot had a touch of ridicule, but then they marched off in all directions, arms swinging, quite serious. I was left alone. I know I haven't grown any smaller, but my role has diminished. Perhaps a new era is beginning.
