Forgotten Homework

I'm sitting at the back of this unfamiliar room analysing these foreign surroundings. It is less than 24 hours since I entered this host body and I'm still studying its database of strange thoughts and even stranger behaviours. This intense assimilation process is suddenly interrupted when his name, my new name, is called out by the human stood at the from of the room.

"Peter! Have you completed that homework yet?"

The other humans around me, sat at furniture similar to mine, turn and look at me. One or two are smiling. I contort my new face muscles to emulate their expressions and, with only the slightest hesitation, reply,

"Sorry Miss, I've forgotten it."

My database assures me this is a phrase my host has used many times before in similar situations.

"Oh Peter, what am I going to do with you? You'd forget your head if it wasn't screwed on!"

I look at her suspiciously. How did she know I could do that with my head?
